Guiding Eyes for the Blind is an internationally recognized guide dog school headquartered in Yorktown Heights, NY, with regional sites in twelve states from NY to NC. Our family of professionals, volunteers, and donors are committed to giving our students the gift of greater personal freedom, independence, and dignity by providing them the finest bred and trained guide dogs in the world.
Welcome to the Dominion Region of Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Our headquarters is in the homes and lives of hundreds of volunteers from across the metro area including Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County, and McLean. We are a pack of volunteers who have found joy, fulfillment and satisfaction in giving of our time and resources to Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

A love for dogs is just about all the criteria for joining us in this great adventure. As with all volunteer organizations, we are spread out and run on faith and hope that just the right person will show up at just the right time. We need puppy raisers, puppy sitters, drivers, donors, vets, vet assistants, and — for those of us who are better with canines than computers – administrative gurus who keep us all on a tight leash. Your participation is limited only to your passion for the cause. We receive letters all the time from graduates who can barely find words to express their new-found freedom and confidence as they move through a cloudy and sometimes dark world with a well trained, 4-legged companion.
